You may be one of those people who love the adventure and personal satisfaction that you get from making things yourself. If this is so, I have a great option for you. Read on . . . There are 3 steps to creating a successful floorcloth:
The artwork is the fun part - the part that you look forward to when you think about making it yourself. However, the secrets to a quality floorcloth are actually in the preparation of the base not in the artwork. The base must consist of the correct weight of canvas; a primer that maintains flexibility; a base paint that has elastic properties; and a neat hem with precisely mitered corners glued with a product that, again, maintains flexibility. Above all, the finished floorcloth base should not warp or pull at the corners. It should lay absolutely flat. Actually, it is quite an art to create a floorcloth that lies flat on the floor and you will notice that many professionally-made floorcloths do not achieve this. The floorcloth that you make will be a quality rug if you start with a base that I prepare especially for you. I will make your base by my own hands as if I were preparing it for one of my custom rugs. It will be made to your specifications - any size, any shape, any color. You won't have to buy canvas, gesso, base paint, brushes, glue, or hemming tools. My price to you for a floorcloth base as pictured below is $7.00 per square foot plus shipping. For example:
If your desired shape has curved edges, the price will be $10.00 per square foot plus shipping. (Creating a hem for a curved piece is a lot more work.) Give me a call (it's toll free) and we can discuss your project.
